Marie-Josée Shaar | Founder & Author
I am a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I am a committed health cook and a fitness enthusiast who loves to be out in nature and cares a great deal for the environment. I am a perpetual student, and I take health in general very seriously. I can be amusingly clumsy at times, but laugh at myself quite willingly.
On a more formal side, I did an undergrad at McGill University in Organizational Behavior, followed by a Master of Applied Positive Psychology at University of Pennsylvania. I am also certified as a Personal Trainer, and a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant. My work has led me to travel to many countries, including the US, Canada, France, England, and Australia.
Prior to devoting all my time to health and wellness, I enjoyed a first career in the corporate world. I served as a quality of service coordinator and a branch manager for a large bank.
Professionally, what I do best is teach. I’ve taught in many capacities, from group fitness to corporate trainings to master level university lectures. I like to engage others, offer an experience that will get them emotional, and see the light in their eyes turn on.
I have a clear mission. I want to help reverse the current epidemics in sleep deprivation, obesity, depression and physical inactivity. That’s why I founded this company. That’s also why I wrote Smarts and Stamina: The Busy Person’s Guide to Optimal Health and Wellness.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
